Bird Flu, or It Ain't Easy Being Green

Ai yai yai...I was SOOOO sick! Woke up about 2am sunday,,,feeling queasy...
Slept fitfully for another hour. Knew it was inevitable...
So got out of bed, grabbed an ice cream bucket, and headed for the bathroom.
Which is where I spent the remainder of the night and morning. Johnna woke up and came to my aid. She is a good hair holder backer, blanket getter, bucket rinser, cold washcloth getter. Kaitlyn had the daytime duty. She is a good go to the store, soup and jello getter, and kool-aid maker. I finally took my temp at about 9pm sun and it was 101.5 !! Geesh! Johnna said it must have been about 103 during the height of it! I woke up about 1:30 this am in a sweat, the fever was breaking, thank God!
So, I'm on the mend.
No one else here has gotten sick. It's funny, usually everyone else here get's whatever and I don't. This time I'm the only one!
I hope I didn't spread germs to anyone before it hit me.

Prince Mason

What a character this guy is. I sent Jake to the store last week to get Mason some cat food. He bought wiskas brand because it was on sale. Mason does not like wiskas. He only likes friskies....And only "ground" friskies. No flaked, sliced, filleted...only the "ground" variety. Last night I put some wiskas in his bowl. He sniffed it. He turned from it in disgust. He went to the front door. I let him out. His message was clear, he would rather spend the night out in the rain than eat the wiskas.

Sherry Lynn Schlingloff Murphy

Today's post is in honor of a friend of mine who lost her battle with cancer on friday Oct 29, 2005. Memories of her make me giggle. I first met when she lived a few houses down the road from me on Royal Center Pike. I remember us singing "Raindrops keep falling on my head"...we knew every word and sang it loudly. We also filled our mouths with water and gargled tunes, the object being to guess what tune the other one was "gargling". Then she moved to a farm house, and I got to go stay all night with her. There was this little house next to it that was abandoned or something and we found all these barbies in it..and I think we fought over "ownership" of our find! I think she moved to Ohio briefly,,not sure...but then she moved back to Logan and lived in the Schiele addition. Yay, she was only a bike ride away! She lived by the Tanguy's and the Hughes's..we all rode the same school bus. Sherry, Mary Jo Tanguy, and I had alot of fun..I remember us lip synching and dancing to Cherokee Nation (Paul Revere and the Raiders) and "Aquarius". I think she moved away again...my memory gets confused...Then she moved to "Michelle's addition" off of Perrysburg Rd...So, yay again! We were in Junior High then at Columbia. I loved going over to Michelle or Sherrys and listen to them play the piano together. Sherry was always easy to laugh, quick to forgive or understand and just....sweet. I know that she is singing and tap dancing in heaven!
And just for good measure, I will now sing "Raindrops keep falling on my head"

raindrops keep falling on my head
and just like the guy whose feet
are too big for his bed
nothing seems to fit
those raindrops are falling
on my head, they keep falling

so I just did me some talking
to the sun
and I said I didn't like the way
he got things done,
sleeping on the job
those raindrops are falling
on my head, they keep falling

but there's one thing
I know
the blues they sent to
greet me
won't defeat me
It won't be long till
happiness steps up
to greet me

raindrops keep falling on
my head, but that doesn't mean
my eyes will soon be turning red
crying's not for me, cause
I'm never gonna stop the rain
from complainin

because I'm free
nothing's worrying me

It won't be long till
happiness steps up
to greet me
